MAE 4310 Teaching Elementary School Mathematics I
In this course, students explore the knowledge and skills for teachers in Elementary Education K-6 Math.Students are prepared to teach conceptually and developmentally appropriate mathematics content at the elementary grade level. Content includes methods and strategies for teaching integers, decimals, fractions in base-10, and algebraic reasoning in elementary classrooms. Knowledge of student reasoning and instructional practices are also included. In addition, five observation hours of math teaching at the elementary level are required. The district may require a fee for background checks in order for a student to observe a math teacher in a school.
